As Japan’s population becomes increasingly diverse, it is important to address the needs of children who come from multicultural and multilingual homes. This means assessing the needs of such children, their families, and the professionals who work with them. My research is currently focused on assessing the current state of potentially bilingual children, their families, and professionals associated with them so that we can identify gaps in knowledge and training, areas of concern in linguistic support and education, and the state of current support systems for these populations.

日本の人々がますます多様化するにつれて，多文化や多言語の家庭の子どもたちのニーズに対応することが重要となっています。 これは，そのような子どもたち，その家族，そして彼らと一緒に働く専門家のニーズを評価することを意味します。 私の研究は現在，潜在的なバイリンガルの子供，その家族，それに関連する専門家の現状を評価し，知識と訓練のギャップ，言語サポートと教育における懸念事項，これらの集団のための現在のサポートシステムの状態を特定することに焦点を当てています。

I also study how we can use CALL (Computer-Assisted Language Learning) to facilitate language use, especially in independent study and out of class use of second language skills in creative ways. I believe technology can help increase motivation and engagement in language learning while at the same time giving educators an easy way to track progress of students, especially in larger classes where individual assessment is often difficult.

私はまた，CALL（コンピューターによる言語学習システム）を使って言語の使用を促進する方法，特に自主学習や第２言語技能の授業外での創造的な学習方法を研究しています。 私はテクノロジーが，語学学習のモチベーションや勇気を高め，同時に教育者が，特に個々の評価が難しい大規模なクラスの学生の進みぐあいを，簡単に追跡するのに役立つと信じています。
